My artist today is Chance The Rapper who is real name is Chancellor Bennett he was born April 16, 1993 in Chicago Illinois. In Late December 2011 he released his first mix tape after his 10 day suspension from school the Mix tape was entitled "10 Days". He different from other rappers because he has this really unique flow I can't explain he says he use to listen to record and old school music he when was younger and every since he got his first CD he knew he wanted to be a rapper. But before he wanted to be an rapper he knew he wanted to be a entertainer Michael Jackson was an influence. He use to do open mics events at Harold Washington Library in down town Chicago he says it build him up to do public speaking and be comfortable standing in front of audiences telling story's. In 2012 he was in the Complex Magazine "10 New Chicago Artist To Watch Out For". In 2013 he gain most of his buzz when he released his mix-tape Acid Rap on April 30,2013 on Datpiff Mix-tapes he was certified double platinum after being downloaded over 500,000 times. The Mix-tape average a score of 86, based on 21 critics which indicate "universal acclaim". In early June 2013 he was featured in a commercial for MySpace among other rappers. In early July 2013 his Acid Rap debuted at number 63 on the billboards charts Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. May 5, 2014 XXL revealed that Chance would be included in there XXL Freshman 2014.
